Her Story

The Struggle

Sonal was suffering from acidity and burning sensation in the stomach. Initially she used to manage with antacids like ENO and Pan-D but the condition was not improving and she was feeling worse over time. When she got her tests done, she was diagnosed with H.Pylori infection. She was quickly put on antibiotics for 3 weeks. And she did complete the whole dose. But despite that the problem didn't seem to go away. Her doctors told her that the bacteria is dead so the body should recover by itself soon - but her quality of life was going down by the day. Unsure about what is going on and what to do next - she approached us.

Daily Symptoms

  • She experienced a burning sensation in her stomach. And occasional acid reflux early in the morning.
  • She was also bloated throughout the day and especially more after her meals.
  • She was getting tired by the evening as if her energy was crashing.
  • When she approached us she was anxious about what food to take as well.

The Breaking Point

When most doctors she went to described her problem as just anxiety and told her to stop worrying since her reports were normal. But she felt something was off inside her gut.

Our Assessment

What We Discovered

Though H. pylori was eradicated, the gastric mucosal lining remained inflamed and sensitive. This caused her burning sensation. And her prolonged use of PPI and H.Pylori infection had lowered her acid secretion leading to dyspepsia which was causing her reflux and bloating.

Root Causes Identified

  • After H.Pylori infection - the stomach lining is often damaged, especially the mucosal lining.
  • Not just that it makes the stomach sensitive and damages the gastric motility over time leading to bloating and fermentation of food in the gut.
  • Low acid causes the LES to not close completely leading to acid coming up along the esophagus.
  • Lowered microbiome diversity after antibiotic therapy causes poor gut environment slowing down the healing process of the body.

Doctor's Analysis

Simply eradicating bacteria is not enough to heal the gut. Care has to be given to restore the gut lining, improve the gut motility as well as stabilize the gut microbiome.

Treatment Protocol

Phase 1: Soothe & Stabilize

  • First step is to start healing the gut lining. Normalize sleep cycle and circadian rhythm so the body starts healing naturally.
  • Remove triggers from diet, add juices and teas to create a gut soothing environment that helps in relaxing the sensitive nerves.

Phase 2: Heal & Balance

  • Once the gut lining shows signs of improvement, it is time to focus on improving the acid levels so that the food can be digested properly.
  • At this stage, we relax the diet guidelines a bit and introduce normal food along with acid improving foods like bitters.
  • This helps in regulating the acid and stabilizing the gut microbiome.

Phase 3: Strengthen & Restore

  • After the acid levels become normal, it is time to restore the gut microbiome and stabilize the entire gut environment.
  • This is done through careful reintroduction of probiotics and prebiotics. Along with some postbiotic care.
  • This helps in keep the gut environment supportive and cleans up toxic byproducts.

Daily Routine

Mindful, well-chewed meals with proper gaps, gut-soothing juices in the morning and evening, herbal support for digestion and lining repair, light yoga and breathwork, stress regulation practices, and consistent sleep timing.

Her Journey

Month 1: Calming the Gut

Morning nausea settled. Bloating reduced. Food reactions became predictable and less intense.

Week 4: Breakthrough Moment

For the first time in a year, Sonal ate meals without fear. Burning and chest tightness reduced significantly.

Month 3: Digestive Confidence

Digestion normalized. No post-meal anxiety. Appetite improved with wider food tolerance.

Month 5: Complete Recovery

100% resolution of burning and heaviness. Off all antacids and PPIs. Energy, sleep, and confidence fully restored.

Life After Treatment

6 Months Later

We contacted Sonal to check up on her - and her gut health was stable. She could eat what she felt like without the fear of getting a burning sensation. She was maintaining her diet but now life felt in her control. Her symptoms had resolved completely.

In Her Own Words

“I did not have much expectations when I joined. The doctors listened to me carefully and over the months we discussed a lot about what to follow and what to avoid. They were very patient with me and never dismissed my worry or anxiety and patiently solved my problems. I am really happy to say that I have not had a single episode or reflux from the past 2 months. I never thought this was achievable and for that I am really grateful to Thavira.”

What Sonal Still Does

  • Balanced, gut-friendly meals
  • Mindful chewing and meal spacing
  • Occasional gut-soothing juices
  • Light yoga and breathwork
  • Stress-aware lifestyle habits
