Prakash began experiencing sharp discomfort in the upper abdomen that appeared randomly but often worsened after meals. Initially, the pain was mild and intermittent, but over time it became more frequent and was accompanied by nausea and a reduced appetite. Eating sometimes helped briefly, but heavy meals made the discomfort worse. Concerned about persistent symptoms, he underwent endoscopy, which revealed erosions in the stomach lining. He was prescribed proton pump inhibitors and dietary restrictions. While the medication reduced the pain temporarily, symptoms returned every time treatment was stopped. Over time, he became cautious about food and worried about the long-term health of his stomach.
The breaking point came when Prakash realized that every attempt to stop medication led to recurrence of pain. He began to fear that his stomach lining was not healing despite treatment.
Endoscopic findings confirmed erosive gastritis, indicating damage to the superficial layer of the stomach lining. The erosions were likely the result of prolonged irritation from dietary triggers, stress, and intermittent painkiller use. Although acid suppression reduced irritation, the stomach lining had not fully regenerated, leaving it vulnerable to repeated injury.
Erosive gastritis indicates that the stomach lining has been physically damaged. While acid suppression reduces irritation, true healing requires restoration of the mucosal barrier and improved gastric resilience.
Regular meal timings, warm freshly prepared food, avoidance of irritants such as excess caffeine and alcohol, mindful eating, light walking after meals, stress-management practices, and consistent sleep schedule.
Upper abdominal pain reduced. Nausea less frequent. Appetite began improving.
Able to eat moderate meals without discomfort. Gastric irritation significantly reduced.
No recurrent pain. Comfortable digestion without dependence on medication.
Prakash reports stable digestion and no recurrence of sharp stomach pain. He maintains a balanced routine and understands how to protect his stomach during stressful periods or dietary changes.
“I was a bit scared when I heard the word erosions. The doctors also told me that the damage was pretty extensive and I need to be on medications for life. So when I heard from Thavira that the stomach erosions can be cured naturally without complicated medications, I had to try it for myself. And it really did help. After 3 months, I was able to eat the foods that I wanted without the burning sensation and the fear of pain and cramps.”
