Her Story

The Struggle

Neha recovered from COVID physically but her digestion never returned to normal. Almost every food caused bloating, flushing, or palpitations. She did not understand what exactly was causing her problem. She was repeatedly told it was anxiety or post-viral weakness and even put on anxiolytics for managing it. But the lifestyle and diet throughout COVID along with the viral infection had affected her digestion quite adversely.

Daily Symptoms

  • She was experiencing severe bloating after meals, facial flushing and sometimes even heat flashes, loose stools almost every other day, food intolerance and sensitivities to different foods which she could easily eat earlier, palpitations at evenings, fatigue, and brain fog.

The Breaking Point

Simple foods which she would enjoy regularly started triggering her symptoms and all the doctors could tell her was avoid that food and take this PPI which made her lose hope about getting better..

Our Assessment

What We Discovered

Post-COVID disruption of gut microbiome and DAO enzyme activity leading to histamine intolerance.

Root Causes Identified

  • Gut dysbiosis after viral infection, leaky gut, low DAO activity, nervous system sensitization.

Doctor's Analysis

Simply suppressing symptoms or avoiding the trigger foods would not help her much. What would actually help was healing the gut microbiome and reducing the histamine intolerance leading to the issue in the first place.

Treatment Protocol

Phase 1: Histamine Load Reduction

  • We kept her on a Low-histamine diet, gut-soothing nutrition consisting of simple, easy to digest warm foods, nervous system calming practices like meditation, breathwork and yoga. Duration: 4 weeks.

Phase 2: Gut Lining Repair & Enzyme Support

  • Now that her gut was stable, we could focus on Mucosal healing, DAO support, mineral repletion, circadian correction.
  • We started her on lifestyle correction and functional medicine support to reverse her histamine intolerance. Duration: 5 weeks.

Phase 3: Microbiome Rebuilding

  • Started her on Targeted high power probiotics and gradual food reintroduction to test for gut tolerance. Slowly we built her gut resilience. Duration: 6 weeks.

Daily Routine

Low-histamine meals, breathing before meals, early dinners, sleep regularization, light yoga.

Her Journey

Week 3

Flushing reduced. Meals tolerated better.

Week 6

Bloating and palpitations settled.

Month 4

Returned to normal diet with confidence.

Life After Treatment

6 Months Later

Neha remains symptom-free with a flexible diet and stable digestion.

In Her Own Words

“I thought it was because of my lifestyle and the COVID vaccine, but I couldn't eat anything that I could earlier, I was scared that the vaccine might have caused irreversible harm to my gut and I was panicking. The allopathy doctors dismissed me saying it was simply anxiety, but I felt something wrong in my gut. When I discussed this with Thavira doctors, they acknowledged that COVID virus can cause multiple system disturbances as well as the vaccine can cause injury in some cases and I finally felt heard. After following their protocol, I could feel the changes and now I am feeling much much better. Thanks.”

What Neha Still Does

  • Balanced meals
  • Stress regulation
  • Occasional gut support
