Kunal’s symptoms started as mild upper abdominal burning and bloating after meals. Over time, the discomfort became more frequent and intense, often accompanied by nausea and poor appetite. Eating spicy or oily food made things worse, but even simple home food was not comfortable. Endoscopy confirmed H. pylori infection, and he underwent standard antibiotic eradication therapy. During treatment, his symptoms reduced significantly, and he felt hopeful. However, within a few weeks of completing antibiotics, the burning and bloating slowly returned. Follow-up tests showed the infection was cleared, yet his stomach still felt irritated and weak. This cycle left him confused and anxious about why he still felt unwell despite “successful” treatment.
The breaking point came when he was told that the infection was gone but his symptoms were “functional” and would need long-term acid suppressants. He felt that something was still wrong inside his stomach that had not healed.
While the H. pylori infection had been eradicated, the bacteria had already caused significant damage to the gastric lining. Antibiotic therapy further disrupted the gut environment. The stomach mucosa remained inflamed and sensitive, and natural acid and enzyme balance was impaired. This post-eradication state explained why symptoms persisted despite negative test results.
H. pylori eradication removes the bacteria, not the damage it leaves behind. Without focused mucosal healing and digestive restoration, symptoms can persist long after the infection is cleared.
Regular meal timings with no long fasting gaps, warm freshly prepared food, avoidance of irritants, mindful eating, light post-meal walking, stress regulation practices, and consistent sleep routine.
Burning sensation reduced. Nausea less frequent. Appetite began improving.
Able to eat normal meals without bloating. Heaviness after food reduced significantly.
No daily burning or nausea. Digestion felt stronger and more reliable without medication dependence.
Kunal reports stable digestion with no recurrence of burning or bloating. He eats comfortably and understands how to protect his stomach during travel or stressful periods. Follow-up tests remain negative for H. pylori.
“I did everything that the doctors told me to, I took PPI and I took antibiotics but my gut was still feeling really bad. After attending one of Thavira's webinars I realized that h.pylori does damage to the gut lining and that needs to be fixed even if the bacteria is killed and that was the step that was missing in my treatment. So when the doctors here gave me proper diet plan and supplements also, I could start seeing much improvements within 4 weeks itself. Now I feel pretty amazing and without any pain and discomfort.”
